Training a Stationary Behaviour

Training a stationary behaviour is the foundation for all the work we’re about to do. You won’t be able to do anything at all without a stationary behaviour! 

Spend a good amount of time on this and really nail it. You can do it! 

First, we’re going to lure and reinforce that stationary behaviour – make it really strong before we name it or cue it. 

Next, we build duration. This means that we’re going to lure the behaviour as we did in the first video and continue to reinforce it so that the dog remains in that position longer and longer. We gradually slow the rate of reinforcement (the frequency with which we are feeding) as we go.
