We know that dogs who lack impulse control often turn into reactive dogs so we need to start small and work on this concept at home when they are most relaxed. This will allow us to upload some impulse control-based behaviours onto their hard drives when they are in a learning mode.

We can then start to implement these concepts and behaviours when they are in a more stimulating environment, and lastly after a reaction has happened in order to help them recover faster.

Practice for short times at home and only when you’re ready and it’s not too difficult, try one of them outside where there are no triggers or great distractions and that will tell you if you need more time with the training indoors before taking it on the road.

You’ve got this!
