Now for your first reality check!

Dogs are not born and bred to walk on leash beside a human.

Dogs are animals and animals are designed to be free.

No matter how many tens of thousands of years we spend domesticating dogs, they’re always going to do dog-things; turn around a few times before lying down, dig holes to cool off, eat garbage they find, chew shoes, and pull on leash.

Walking on leash is the least natural thing a dog can possibly do, and yet, here we are, insisting that they walk beside us without pulling when we bring them home at 8 weeks of age! Talk about high expectations, right?

Well, let’s keep all of this in mind as we work through these strategies together. It’ll keep us realistic!
