Red flags

A red flag is something that we watch for – an indication that something isn’t working or a concern that needs addressing now so that it doesn’t grow into a bigger problem later.

If you know what to look for, you’ll know what to work on and when to get help.

When it comes to your puppy, if you see any of the following, you should get in touch with us right away:

  • Fearful responses (including avoidance, yelping, running away, hiding, shaking, cowering)
  • Poor recovery from stressful instances (takes longer than 30 seconds to go “back to normal” after getting spooked
  • Aggressive responses (not typical puppy play-biting and zoomies) to handling or other triggers
  • Disengaged from new people and dogs
  • Refusing to go for walks

Keep a close eye and don’t expect your dog to grow out of it. They grow INTO behaviours – not out of them!
