Mission Cheat Sheet

Using the Mission you downloaded in this module, you will continue to work your way up to a longer duration, following a similar sequence.

Using a Timer

At this point you should start using a timer. This is critical! Whether you use your watch, a smartphone, a kitchen timer, it doesn’t matter, but use the same one each time and this will ensure that you are accurate with your timing.

You might not think it’s a big deal (anyone can count!) but your dog knows the difference between a slow 10 seconds and a fast 10 seconds.

The timer should start when the door closes – this is the moment of separation for your dog. The lock comes after this, but it can be delayed for various reasons (dropping keys, fumbling to find them, etc…)

You’ll be keeping one eye on the timer to note any changes in your dog’s stress levels, and you’ll be keeping one eye on the video feed where you are monitoring your dog.

*The missions noted in bold with an asterisk* are the missions that we have found more challenging in the past. Some dogs regress at these points, and require a little more work with criteria splits.

This is a loose guide to show you how each mission can take bigger steps. Please keep in mind that the missions in blue  are the missions that will remain under 30 minutes in length, including the breaks in between each step. The missions in red are the missions that will need to be shortened, but we will get to that in the next module, where we discuss losing your warm-up steps.
